Accompanied by an enthusiastic guide, you will take a beautiful walk through the Waalenburg nature reserve. At this time of year this is the ideal place to view large numbers of wintering birds. Due to the large area of wet grassland, the many creeks, the tranquility of the area in combination with an abundance of food, you can find numerous wintering birds. This varies from water birds such as white-fronted and barnacle geese, wigeons, teals to waders such as golden plovers and ruffs. During the day, these species are often joined by small swans and numerous seagulls. You also have a chance of seeing birds of prey, such as peregrine falcon, hawk or hen harrier. During the excursion you can use good quality loaner binoculars free of charge. We end the walk in De Marel Nature Center with a cup of delicious hot chocolate or coffee.
