Walking bird excursion Utopia

Accompanied by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide from the Bird Information Centre, you will take a walk of approximately 2 hours along Utopia and towards De Schorren. This part of the Bird Boulevard is very rich in birds and during this excursion you will encounter various unique bird species. Utopia is a beautiful bird area inside the dike on the east side of Texel. Here you can find breeding terns of various types and various wading birds on migration on the constructed shell beaches and shallow waters. At high tide in the Wadden Sea, the wading birds also use Utopia as a resting place and foraging area. Halfway through the walk, you have a beautiful view of De Schorren from the Wadden Sea dike. A unique creeks area outside the dike where thousands of wading birds, depending on the tide on the Wadden Sea, go in search of food and rest. De Schorren is also known for its large colony of Spoonbills. During this walking excursion you will be given a good pair of binoculars and the guide can tell you all about the importance of these areas for the birds and about recognizing all the different birds.
