Cecile is a 'girl next door' of De Vermaning. As a child, she lived a few houses down the street and played in her father's yard, which extended to the garden of De Vermaning. At school she received a lot of attention for drawing and creativity. The master sent her drawings for competitions and in high school she almost received private lessons. Drawing was also her 'outlet', because at a young age she had serious back problems (scoliosis) and due to the pain and the many operations she could not always participate with other children. Cecile is self-taught, but has taken courses to learn techniques. There are also rules with painting, but sometimes she consciously deviates from them. She developed her own style and still continues to look for new forms. As a native Texel, she likes to be inspired by the Texel landscape and Texel nature. It gives her great satisfaction when people enjoy her work.
