Salt marsh, mudflats and spoonbills - De Schorren

wednesday 26 june 2024 18:00 - 20:30 Hours

De Schorren is teeming with life. It is the ideal nursery for spoonbills, seagulls and eider ducks. Hares hop happily between the flowering sea lavender and sea aster. Join the ranger on an expedition into a forbidden area. Seasoning salt On the way to the spoonbill colony, you walk among wonderfully scented sea wormwood and the ranger lets you taste the spicy plants. Cross winding creeks and stroll to the Wadden Sea. Wad an expedition At first glance, the mudflats seem like a lifeless expanse of sand, but if you go with the ranger, the opposite will be proven. Just like all those thousands of wading birds, you will look for small fidgeting creatures and long lugworms. We fish small shrimps from the salty water and take a closer look at the Wadden buffet. Starting point expedition NB!! We leave at the indicated time from the starting point at the gate on the south side of De Schorren. This is a 20-minute walk from the parking lot in the bend of the Lancasterdijk and the Stuifweg. You can continue by bike to the starting point of the expedition. Be on time! The expedition cannot be postponed due to: the rising water. Important to know The minimum age for participation is 9 years! The duration of the discovery tour is 2.5 hours. Wear high, well-fitting boots or old sneakers with laces! We walk through the mudflats, shoes get very dirty here!
