On the occasion of the Wadden Bird Festival weekend we are organizing a number of extra excursions!
The Wadden Sea is of essential importance for numerous wading birds. Numerous not only in the sense of large numbers, but also in the sense of a large number of species. The Wadden Sea is an important breeding area and as a stopover of essential importance for birds on their way from their wintering areas off the coast of Africa to their breeding areas in northern regions and vice versa.
In the spring these wading birds are usually more 'colorful' and easier to distinguish from each other per bird species. In the autumn these birds are more sober in appearance in their winter plumage and it becomes a challenge to identify the correct species.
An enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide (also in German, also in English) will take you to the mudflats and tell you all about the dynamics of the tide and how you can recognize the birds present and distinguish them from each other.
The excursion starts at 10:00 at the Bird Information Centre and, if desired, we will provide you with a good quality pair of loan binoculars. The price for this excursion is €30 per person and registration is required.
