Open Day Texla bunkers

Hours
Originally, the German bunker complex ‘Widerstandsnest 21 H’, dating from 1943, had almost fifty bunkers, structures and field fortifications. The complex was largely surrounded by a tank ditch and barbed wire barriers. During the Georgian Uprising from 6 April to 20 May 1945, this position was one of the focal points of the fighting. All that remains of this complex are the telephone connection bunker and the horse stable on the corner of the Georgieweg.
A few years ago, volunteers from the bunker group made the earth-covered telephone connection bunker partially visible and accessible. In addition, the volunteers are doing their utmost to preserve the bunkers both inside and out and, where possible, to restore them. Inside, a collection of remains found on the Texla site and donated war items with a Texel background are on display. In addition, characteristic and essential bunker objects are sometimes purchased to create the best possible image of the goings-on inside a manned bunker.
The bunkers can be visited from 10:00 to 16:00. Entrance: children €2,- and adults €4,-. There are good parking facilities for bicycles/cars. Dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a leash.
