'Springtime', concert door Amici Cantus

On Tuesday evening, May 21, Amici Cantus will give a special spring concert in the church of De Waal. The choir presents a varied program with vocal and instrumental music, tailored to 'Springtime', the period of the year when everything blossoms and desires are fulfilled (or not). This includes the twittering and beautiful singing of birds, budding love, highlights when that love is reciprocated, and deep sadness when dreams do not come true. Joy, beauty, longing, seduction, tragedy... Composers from all times have used these subjects to create the most beautiful music. For this concert we chose music by, among others, Thomas Morley and John Dowland from the 16th century, Edward Elgar, Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams who lived 2 centuries later, and have added Benjamin Britten and John Rutter from our own time to the program. Cooperation is provided by Karen Haasdijk, piano, and Eveline Drevel and Geertje de Vries, recorder. The choir is led by Lida Wels. The concert starts at 8:15 PM. Admission is €7.50 (debit card preferred).
