Exhibition Irene Maas in De Marel

The exhibition of the ceramic birds by Irene Maas in Nature Center De Marel is free of charge. More than 50 different and unique bird sculptures can be viewed. The images are also for sale. As far as ceramic sculptures are concerned, Irene Maas is a household name on Texel and far beyond and has already exhibited several times. She has been a ceramist by profession since 1975. Irene usually makes animal figures, such as birds, but she also makes cats and seals. In Natuurcentrum De Marel only the bird images are shown. Irene's sculptures are depicted in stylized realism and painted with self-mixed earth glazes. She forms everything by hand, so that no two are the same. Now, after almost 50 years of experience with the ceramics process, she can make what she wants. We chose the birds for the exhibition in Waalenburg because it fits in nicely with the area. Among the birds are many ducks and waders that you can also observe in the flesh in the area.
