Texel is inextricably linked to the sea. For centuries, islanders braved the elements for trade and fishing. In the meantime, the landscape willingly allowed itself to be guided by the strong current.
The harbours, strategic trading places, ‘moved’ in their wake. The Lieuw cycle route takes you past these vanished places. It gives you an impression of 750 years of Texel fishing.
