You can book this excursion at the Bird Information Center or via nm.nl/wadenlepelaars. Pay attention!! We leave at the indicated time from the starting point at the gate on the south side of De Schorren. This is a 20-minute walk from the parking lot in the bend of the Lancasterdijk and Stuifweg.
Be on time! The expedition cannot be postponed i.v.m. the emerging water. De Schorren, the ideal baby room for spoonbills, seagulls and eider ducks. Hares are walking between the flowering sea lavender and sea aster. Go on an expedition with the forester in this forbidden area.
On the way to the spoonbill colony you walk between wonderfully scented sea marshmallows and let the ranger taste the spicy plants. Cross winding creeks and wander to the Wad.
At first glance, the mudflats seem like a lifeless sand plain, but the opposite will be proven during this excursion. Just like all those thousands of wading birds, you start looking for small fidgetlings and long wading piers. We fish small shrimps from the salty water and view the Wadden buffet from close by.
Important: The absolute minimum age for participation is 8 years for this 2.5 hour trip. Put on high and well-fitting boots or old sneakers because shoes get very dirty here! Take binoculars and camera with you. But realize that we are entering a rough and sometimes slippery area. Taking (expensive) equipment is entirely at your own risk.
