Salt marsh, mudflats and spoonbills - De Schorren

De Schorren is teeming with life. It is the ideal nursery for spoonbills, gulls and eiders. Hares happily hop between the blooming sea lavender and sea aster. Join the forester's expedition in a forbidden area.
Seasoning salt
On the way to the spoonbill colony, you walk between wonderfully scented sea wormwood and let the forester taste the spicy plants. Traverse winding creeks and stroll to the Wad.
Wad an expedition
At first sight the mud flats seem like a lifeless sand plain, but if you go with the forester the opposite will be proven. Just like all those thousands of wading birds, you go looking for small fidgety animals and long mudflat piers. We fish small shrimps from the salt water and take a close look at the mudflat buffet.
Expedition starting point
NB!! We leave at the indicated time from the starting point at the gate on the south side of De Schorren. This is a 20-minute walk from the parking lot in the bend of Lancasterdijk and Stuifweg. By bike you can continue cycling to the starting point of the expedition.
Be on time! The expedition cannot be postponed due to the rising water.
