How do we follow migratory birds with transmitters around the world? Visit the open day of the NIOZ on Texel. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there are demonstrations, lectures and mini-masterclasses about the why, how and what of marine research. Ask the marine experts your questions and view the state-of-the-art equipment in the workshops. There is also plenty to do for children. Get DNA from a cup of seawater, study small creatures under the microscope or let sahara sand fly over the ocean. Send your decorated cup to the deep sea and see how the big pressure reduces it. You can also craft your own fantasy marine animals or go on a hunt for known and unknown marine animals.
