In her studio, Suzanne Glerum uses the sketches she made on Texel as a starting point for oil paintings. Her canvases are never an exact representation of observable reality, but an expressive translation of rhythms and movements in the landscape. The paintings are built up in different layers. Sometimes the layers of paint are so thick that the skin reaches the quality of a relief. Her rough brushstrokes contrast with the refined, rich variety of gray tones.
The exhibition in the large hall of Galerie Posthuys consists of various aspects of the Texel landscape: waves, potato ridges, cloudy skies, sand ribs and the water behind the Texelstroom.
Galerie Posthuys (Brink 14, De Koog) is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entrance is through the garden at the rear of the property.
