On Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September, the sky at Paal 17 will be filled with kites during the Wind Festival. It will be a colorful festival with over 100 show kites in the air. Various national and international kite teams will make the crossing to Texel to be part of the festival, each team with its own theme. For example, there is a team with dragons, trilobites and octopuses, a team with Chinese opera masks, there are large bears, snakes and starfish and replicas of the “Cody” will be pulled into the air. The Cody was built in the early 1900s and was used in the First World War to pull scouts into the air. The Wind Festival is freely accessible and will take place on both days from 11:00 to 17:00 on the beach at Paal 17.
