Summer Evening Concert
tuesday 2 july 2024
20:15
- 21:31
Hours
Every week the Zomerkerk organizes a surprising concert in one of Texel's beautiful churches, provided by professional musicians.
“Six hands, one piano” in the Doopsgezinde Kerk, Kogerstraat 18 Den Burg.
Julia Tavit, Sterre Hond and Damiën Heemskerk met at the Rotterdam Conservatory. In recent years they have gained national fame, including on Texel, with their original program that focuses on music for six-handed piano. They have played in this church before and they feel a special connection with the island. The program allows pianists to work freely with high-contrast pieces. They play their own compositions and music by lesser-known composers. While Sterre, Julia and Damiën can show their own vision on music in the solo pieces, in the six-hand repertoire they find the connection (also because the three of them have limited space behind one keyboard) and it sounds like the tone comes from one (six-handed) pianist. A special feature of this concert is a four-handed improvisation. A concert in which craftsmanship and virtuosity are combined with moments of tranquility and intimacy.
The concert starts at 20.15.
